K Yoland was born and raised in London, England. She received a BA in Philosophy at Bristol University (2002) and an MFA from The Slade, University College of London (2004). Exhibiting internationally Yoland’s recent venues include Turner Contemporary, Alan Cristea Gallery, Ancient & Modern and Marfa Contemporary. The artist's latest solo exhibitions include photography and video in 'Foreign Affair'at BeefHaus (Dallas), which focused on international conflict zones and 'Border, Land, Other' at Oklahoma Contemporary, which investigated the nature of territory, migration and the alien on the USA/Mexico border.
Yoland moved to Marfa, Texas, in 2012 to be the inaugural artist-in-residence with Marfa Contemporary. Since then, she continues to work in West Texas, developing her exploration of borders. During this time she has been host/producer for an arts & culture interview-program at Marfa Public Radio and the artist co-ordinator for Fieldwork Marfa, an artist-in-residence program, run by two universities in Switzerland and France (2014-present). Prior to Marfa, Yoland was the 18-month artist-in-residence with South London Gallery and Acme in London. Yoland is currently an artist-in-resident at CentralTrak, which began January 2015 and is ongoing.
