The Endless Cycle
The series of work The Endless Cycle presents the image of a round existence, perceived as birth, aging, and mortality. I am engaged with the idea of Creation exploring what is born and lost, positive and negative, rise and fall. The human body creates an intuitive construction based on study and emotional response to the nature of things to produce a psychological experience and an interpretation of the cycle of birth, which is repeated indefinitely. These mysterious forms represent the cycle of life, emphasizing abstractionism, metaphysics, and symbolism. The elemental work is the compositional structure that is painted on silk and is drawn in the space through the incorporation of yarn and fiber. The unique technique used in these works combines traditional skills with innovative contemporary ones to present a personal and innovative visual language. The result manifests itself through reflections, transmission, and interference of light on silk fiber and white paint. My work investigates three-dimensional line drawing structures that incorporate multiple hanging panels that allow the viewer’s vision to penetrate through transparent and translucent layers. When light is directed on the work, it literally highlights the multi-textural construction of the different surfaces. The use of fiber, yarn, and silk fabric as a medium has allowed me to express culture, expertise, and experiences.
